I took my gran for lunch with her sister, both elderly and gran was in a wheelchair, access was good and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The serving staff were pleasant and polite and made us all feel very welcome. The carvery was amazing as ever and we all enjoyed our food and will be visiting again very soon!
I've been a past customer of this restaurant but probably not visited for a year or more.Visited on a Monday 6pm in January 2019, didn't expect it to be busy, but I was greeted (if you can call it a greeting) by a somewhat curt waitress asking 'have you booked' (Uh No, it's a Monday, not a Sunday lunchtime) This made the beginning of our visit very unwelcoming, also considering when we arrived their was a whole section of the restaurant that was empty with no diners in, so I didn't see the problem nor the need to say to us 'here's card, book in future)Of the 4 waitresses I saw during the visit plus the chef serving at the carvery, they all seemed miserable as sin, nor particularly welcoming, obviously not a great place to work or a good employer, or much job satisfaction! Also sadly the food wasn't great either, vast majority of the vegetables and accompaniments from carvery wasn't particularly fresh, many of the veg dry, and the cauliflower cheese, horrible and completely tasteless, like sauce was just flour and water, didn't taste an ounce of cheese.Ordered a sundae, as soon as served the ice cream was just melted liquid! NO 'Ice' just 'Cream' LITERALLY!Put it this way, will not be in a rush to go back...anytime soon, or ever!
I've been to Toby more times than I can count, it's a great place to pick up a good value lunch and I have a decent time whenever I go. The food is always good and a quality which most people have come to expect from Toby! We've had a few issues at times but they are by no means the norm! If you want a nice place you can eat at good value, Toby hits the nail on the head!
Excellent carvery. Best roast potatoes in county. Can get busy. Service was great.
Table service is always good with a definite friendly smile and good brief conversation with the staff. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a Toby Carvery, it's hearty, hot and filling. The carving chef always manages to put just the right amount of meat on your plate. There are 2 reasons why this review is missing a star:1) parking is a bit of a squeeze most nights.2) it doesn't always feel very clean in there, the table is usually a bit greasy and there's clearly marks on the wall where someone's sweet little darling child (monster) decided to flick gravy/peas/bodily discharges onto the wall. But overall, a very good Toby Carvery experience.
